Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior guard Derrick Carter scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the opening half, leading host Washington College to a 79-66 exhibition win over Bryn Athyn on Friday evening at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium.
Carter swished 9-of-18 field goal attempts overall and went 7-for-14 from downtown. Classmate Daniel Brown contributed a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guards Dilyn Becker (14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) and Barry McCormick (12 points) also posted strong performances. Senior center Logan Bunch grabbed eight boards in just 14 minutes off the bench.
The Shoremen trailed 56-55 with 9:27 remaining but went on a 14-3 run and coasted down the stretch. Bunch gave the hosts the lead for good, 59-58, after converting a pair of free throws with 7:46 left. Carter and Becker would then hit key treys during the knockout spurt.
Haybert Louchie paced the visitors with 15 points.
The two squads will meet again on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Chestertown.
