Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior forward Daniel Brown recorded a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds leading host Washington College to a 78-73 exhibition win over Bryn Athyn on Saturday evening at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium.
The Shoremen trailed 20-14 midway through the first half but went on an 8-2 spurt to even the game at the 6:20 mark. Brown scored on consecutive layups to cap the run and then junior guard Tray Wright drained a trifecta to give the hosts the lead for good at 25-22 with 5:43 left before the break. The Shoremen widened their lead to 43-32 at intermission.
The Lions nearly came all the way back as they closed within a point with 1:38 left in the contest, however, Wright made all four of his free throws down the stretch and the hosts forced a key turnover to hold on for the win.
Junior guard Dilyn Becker came off the bench to score 15 points (5-for-8 treys) and grab seven rebounds while Wright (14 points) and senior guard Derrick Carter (12 points, 4 steals) were also in double-figures. The Shoremen went 11-for-23 (47.8 percent) from behind the arc.
Junior guard Anthony Burr paced the visitors with 21 points.
