Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. - - -Senior guard Derrick Carter scored a game-high 14 points to lead the host Washington College Shoremen to a, 75-50, exhibition game victory against the Penn State-Altoona Lions on Friday evening at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium.
Trailing 36-35 at the break, the Shoremen outscored the Lions by an 18-6 margin over the first 7:05 of the second half and never trailed again. Senior guard Cole Storm's layup to open the second half gave the hosts the lead for good. Storm and Carter drained back-to-back treys to complete the big run.
The visitors closed within 59-58 with 7:24 left but the Shoremen never surrendered the lead. Senior forward Daniel Brown (9 points, game-high 11 rebounds) converted a conventional three-point play on the next trip down and then made another layup to make it 66-61 at the 4:14 mark. Freshman Kedrick Frink's three-point play and another layup by Brown put the game away down the stretch.
Senior guard Barry McCormick contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while classmate Logan Bunch added 9 points, 7 rebounds and a pair of rejections.
Alex McClellan paced the Lions with 12 points.
The Shoremen, who honored their six seniors prior to the contest, are a perfect 3-0 to start the exhibition season. The two squads will square off again in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon.
