Nguyen and Ruppert Win Each Twice in Singles and Once in Doubles

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Washington College women's tennis team opened up its fall slate Friday-Sunday at the James T. & Sarah C. Eyre Tennis Courts on the campus of Christopher Newport University in the Christopher Newport University Tournament.  The Shorewomen competed against Division I's Longwood and Norfolk State and Division III's Christopher Newport and North Carolina Wesleyan.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen picked up a pair of wins in doubles against Norfolk State on Saturday.  The duo of Irene Meng and Alisha White topped the team of Amber Harris and Laura Ruiz, 8-5, and the tandem of Bin Nguyen and Katie Ruppert downed the pair of Zada McMorris and Niya Grant, 8-4.

Singles
- On Saturday, Ruppert and Nguyen each won two matches, while White picked up one win.  Ruppert got the better of Milena Ancieto of North Carolina Wesleyan, 6-1, 6-1, and McMorris of Norfolk State, 6-2, 6-3 and Nguyen topped Miguelina Paiva of North Carolina Wesleyan, 6-0, 6-0, and Norfolk State's Andrea Barcenas, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).  White won by scores of 6-0, 6-0 over Juana Baudrix of North Carolina Wesleyan.
