Hilton Head, SC – The Washington College women's tennis team won their third straight match as they bested Millikin by a score of 6-3. The Shorewomen improve to 6-1 on the season.

Washington College 6, Millikin 3
The Shorewomen won two of three doubles matches to take the lead heading into singles competition. Senior Alisha White/junior Bin Nguyen won at No.1 doubles and junior Irene Meng/sophomore Piper Sartison claimed the No. 2 point.

No. 1 Meng, No. 2 White, No. 3 Sartison and No. 5 Katie Ruppert all were victorious in singles competition.

How it Happened
The Shorewomen had a very strong performance in doubles and were able put themselves ahead in the score, despite having to default at No. 3 doubles. Having the 2:1 advantage heading into singles gave the team a lot of confidence and it showed in their singles play. Ruppert had a very important win for the team and extended their lead to 3:2. White and Meng gave the Shorewomen the two points they needed to clinch the win. Nguyen had to withdraw from her match but Sartison had a good performance and added to the score, making it 6:3.

"Today, our big goal was to be up after doubles. The two teams played very well and gave us that advantage that we were hoping for. We finished off our Spring Break trip on a high with a lot of people playing some good tennis at key moments. We will take a lot of positives from our matches down here and look to improve on the things that have been a bit of a struggle for us at times."
