Box Score 2 Chestertown, Md - The Washington College women's tennis team opened their spring season with home victories against Wilkes and Stevenson on Saturday. The Shorewomen defeated Wilkes by a score of 6-3 and blanked Stevenson by an 8-1 margin.
Junior Irene Meng, senior Alisha White and junior Bin Nguyen all recorded singles victories and the Shorewomen took all three doubles flights.
Meng defeated Dasha Yakhnis 4-2, 4-1 at No. 1 singles, White downed Zoe Klein, 4-1, 4-2 at No. 2 singles, and Nguyen bested Cassidy Greenman in a tiebreaker, 0-4, 4-1, 4-3 (7-5).
The Shorewomen won all three doubles matches to take the point. Meng/Piper Sartison took the #1 flight by a score of 8-2 over Tea Amerise/Cassidy Greenman, Nguyen/White bested Alexa Cieri/Yakhnis, 8-1 at No. 2, and Maria Cristina Diaz-Nazario/Katie Ruppert downed Klein/Kaitlyn O'Neil, 8-6.
Washington had no problem with Stevenson in the evening match as they won five singles matches and all three doubles flights.
No. 1 Meng, #2 White, No. 3 Sartison, #4 Nguyen, and #5 Ruppert all won easily in their singles matches.
No. 1 Meng/Sartison, #2 Nguyen/White, and #3 Nazario/Ruppert cruised in doubles competition.
