Three Shoremen Swimmers Tabbed 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District®

Affeldt Earns Honor for Second Time with Hensen and Rawa First-Time Honorees

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Washington College swimmers, senior Zach Affeldt (Savage, Minn./Burnsville), senior Chase Hensen (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) and sophomore Nathan Rawa (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) have been named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® for men's swimming. The Academic All-District® team are selected by members of the College Sports Communicators. Affeldt, Hensen and Rawa are all eligible to be named CSC All-America®, which will be announced on April 23.

The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be on the team, a student-athlete must have a GPA (grade-point average) of at least 3.50 and is not rounded up. 

Affeldt earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention in February in the 200-yard breaststroke as he earned the bronze medal in the event for the second straight year and third time in four year. He medaled in the event all four years as he won a silver in the event in 2023. Last month, he was named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men's swimming for the second straight year in addition to being named Academic All-Centennial and to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. 

The senior is a Political Science and International Relations double major and currently has a 3.974 grade-point average.

Hensen was named All-Centennial first team in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events as he won the gold medal in the two events. His time of 55.38 seconds in the 100 breaststroke that won him the gold set the school record. Hensen finished his career as a three-time all-conference selection as he earned honorable mention in the 100 breaststroke in 2023 where he took home the bronze. Hensen was a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll and was Academic All-Centennial in 2023 and 2025.

The senior is a Business Management and Economics dual major and currently owns a 3.842 grade-point average.

Rawa was tabbed all-conference honorable mention in the 100 backstroke as he landed the bronze medal in the event for his first medal and All-CC selection. His time of 50.34 in the event set the Washington College record. The sophomore was also named Academic All-Centennial and to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the first time.

The sophomore is a Communication & Media Studies major and currently has a 3.834 grade-point average.

This is the second time Affeldt has been named to the team, while Hensen and Rawa are first time selections to the squad.
