Chestertown, MD- Washington College Chief Advancement and Revenue Officer Susie Chase announced today that Constantine Ananiadis will become the first Director of the Wood Family Racquet Facilities, a new position at the College.
As the director of the racquet facilities, Ananiadis will run the day-to-day operations of the Schottland Tennis Facility, the new Wheeler Family Pickleball Courts, and forthcoming Lim Family Tennis Center. Ananiadis will also host camps, community racquets tournaments and coordinate lessons. The pickleball courts officially opened Saturday, Oct. 17 during the College's Pickleball Community Day. The tennis center is set to open spring of 2027.
"The completion of the Wood Racquet Facility will mark a new era of play for our student athletes on the varsity men's and women's tennis teams, and provide students across our campus with opportunities to compete in these facilities," said Washington College President Bryan Matthews. "I'm certain our current and future students, as well as our broader community, will benefit from Constantine's leadership in this new role."
Ananiadis served as the head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams since 2022, his second stint as head coach after previously serving in the role from 2003-2007.
"I'm thrilled to be transitioning to this new phase of my career and help expand the relations between the College and our local community using tennis as the vehicle," Ananiadis said. "These past four years I have been intimately involved with the fundraising and construction process for the new Lim Family Tennis Center, so I'm honored to be given the opportunity to oversee the facilities and build programming that supports it."
Coach Chuck Willenborg will serve as interim head coach of the tennis teams until the national search for the next coach in the spring.
