The Shorewomen face Marymount on 2/25 to open their season

Chestertown, MD - The Washington College softball team opens up its season travelling to Washington, DC for a doubleheader against Marymount.

Last Season:
The Shorewomen finished their season 12-25, 7-9 in Centennial Conference play. The Shorewomen earned the fifth seed in the conference postseason tournament where they fell to Muhlenberg in a tight 5-4 contest. The Shorewomen began their season splitting with Marymount and then travelling to Florida for their spring break games. In FL, the team collected wins against Curry College, 9-1, and Mount Saint Mary (NY), 4-3. The Shorewomen split with five conference opponents during the season and swept Franklin & Marshall 4-3 and 5-3 as their last contest of the regular season.

Returning for the Shorewomen:
Senior Lilly Wenzel returns to lead the Shorewomen after posting a .330 batting average last season. She returns after she led the team with five home runs and sat second on the team in total hits. Wenzel earned herself a spot on the All-Centennial Conference First Team after finishing fourth in the conference overall in home runs. Fellow senior, Gracelyn Goforth returns for the Shorewomen with a .367 slugging percentage and a .959 fielding percentage at second base. Goforth ended her junior season second in the conference in doubles with a total of 12 on the year. The Shorewomen welcome seven newcomers to the team, one junior transfer and six freshmen who will look to make an immediate impact.

From Head Coach Sally Snover:
"We are so excited to get on the field and compete with this team! We have had a great first few weeks of practice - our seniors are setting the tone, and we have a lot of first years that we cannot wait to see in a WACSB uniform. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting spring!"

The Shoremen open up their season at Marymount on February 25th. They will take the field again on March 8th against Albertus Magnus in their first matchup of their annual spring break trip to Florida.
