LANCASTER, Pa. – Washington College junior men's tennis player
Tichi Chialva (Cordoba, Argentina/LaSalle HS) has been recognized as the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis by the Centennial Conference today. Chialva is one of the 10 Washington College spring student-athletes to be named Academic All-Centennial and 61 to be named to the conference's Spring Academic Honor Roll.
The scholar-athlete of the year goes to the student-athlete who had the high grade-point average who earned All-Centennial Conference recognition that is a junior or senior.
Chialva, a Computer Science major, is a Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the first time and it is also the first time a member of Shoremen Tennis has earned the honor since the conference started presenting the award in 2013-14.
Washington College student-athletes have been named the Centennial's Scholar-Athlete of the Year 23 times since the inception of the award for the 2013-14 school year.
To qualify for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior and carry at least a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average.
Academic All-Centennial honors are bestowed upon student-athletes who are named All-Centennial Conference and earn a spot on the Academic Honor Roll in the same season.

Kinsey is Academic All-Centennial for the third straight year, Anson, Chalva and Harper procured it for the second time, while Gestole, Johnston, Laubach, Philiposian, Ruppel and Urgal Zuleta are first time honorees.

Everitt, Kinsey, Philiposian, Ruppel and Titus were named for third time in baseball. Aponte, Dardaris, DiMauro, Friedman, Knighton and Lewis were selected to the Academic Honor Roll for the second time and while Connelly, Corda, Dart, McCloskey, Powell, Spurgeon and Uhde made it for the first time.
Men's golf had senior
Avery Flubacher (Chadds Ford, Pa./Sanford School [Del.]) as its representative on the Academic Honor Roll. Flubacher qualified for the first time.
Men's lacrosse had 15 members procure their name on the Academic Honor Roll. Joining Gestole and Laubach are seniors

Women's lacrosse had 11 players garnering a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. Joining Anson are seniors

Valerie Rock (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and
Lexi Vennera (New Tripoli, Pa./Southwestern Lehigh). Andrews, Anson, Baldwin and Maggi are three-time selections, while Braswell, Colwell, Howell, Kissinger, Maciorowski, Rock and Vennera have been tabbed twice.

Anna Hutchison (Ridgely, Md./North Caroline),
Emma Kitchin (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall),
Anna McCabe (Absecon, N.J./Ocean City) and
Katie Tribbitt (Ridgely, Md./North Caroline). Foulk, Harper, Meeks and Weglarz were recognized for the third straight year and Hutchison, Johnston, Kitchin, McCabe and Tribbitt are first-time recipients.
Men's tennis had three placed on the Academic Honor Roll. Joining Chialva and Urgal Zuleta was senior
Kohl Perkins (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School). Perkins is a three-time selection and Chialva and Urgal Zuleta were named for the second time.
Women's tennis netted four to the conference's Academic Honor Roll. Senior
Isabella Sorhegui (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) is joined by sophomores
Gaby Coutts (Brunet, Texas/Cedar Park),
Rose Greco (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and
Sofia Sperandei (Pyla, Cyprus/King Richard School). Sorhegui is a three-time member of the Academic Honor Roll, while Coutts, Greco and Sperandei are on it for the first time.
The Centennial had 1,061 total student-athletes tabbed to the Academic Honor Roll and 193 earn Academic All-Centennial this spring.
