Kemp Tallies Goal, Assist in Win

TOWSON, MD -- Despite chilly temperatures, the Washington College field hockey team stayed hot with a 3-0 win over host Goucher College tonight on Beldon Field in Towson, MD. The win was the fourth straight for the Shorewomen (6-4) who were playing their fifth game in nine days.

Washington took a 1-0 lead with 4:30 left in the opening half when senior attack Kelsey Kemp (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) sent a ball across the circle to freshman midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island), who blasted the shot into the cage from deep in the circle. The Shorewomen held an 8-1 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in penalty corners in the first half.

Junior attack Danielle Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequea Valley) made it 2-0 with a goal off a rebounded shot with 27:12 remaining in the game. Kemp ran the score to 3-0 with a blast with 13:48 to go in the game.

Senior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made two saves in the win for the Shorewomen, while Micki Manheimer made four stops in the loss for Goucher (4-6). Barb Koziel made a pair of defensive saves for the Gophers.

Washington outshot Goucher, 15-2, for the game and finished with a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.

The Shorewomen return to action Monday with a 4:30 p.m. game at Moravian.
