Box Score Kile Nets 15 Points and 16 Boards for
WC
CARLISLE, PA – Alesha Sisco
netted a game-best 16 points and added a team-high 10 rebounds for
a double-double as host Dickinson downed visiting Washington
College, 67-49, in Centennial Conference women's basketball action
on Saturday afternoon at the Kline Center. The Red Devils improve
to 15-7 overall and 11-7 in conference play, while the Shorewomen
fall to 9-14 and 7-11 respectively.
The Shorewomen led 10-8 with 13:57 left in the
first half following a fast-break layup by freshman center
Erin Kile (Benton, PA/Benton) before the Red
Devils hit Washington with a 20-5 run over the next 10:10 to take a
28-15 lead, their biggest of the half, with 3:47 left on a
three-pointer by Belma Mekic. Mekic also gave
Dickinson the lead for good on a transition lay-in with 12:30 left
in the opening half to make it 12-10 hosts. Dickinson would take a
32-22 lead into intermission.
In the second half, Washington opened the half on a
11-4 run to cut the Dickinson lead to 36-33 with 15:51 to go in the
game on a Kile putback layup. That was as close as the Shorewomen
would get as Sisco scored on the next possession on a layup with
15:26 to go in the game to ignite a 21-5 run to gave Dickinson a
57-38 lead with 6:22 to go on a Lindsay Finnerty
free throw. The closest WC would get the rest of the way was 16
points on three occasions.
Carole Dempsey added 13 points for
the Red Devils and Taylor Miller chipped in with
12 points. Dempsey and Brooke Muller each had
three steals to lead all players. Dickinson shot 46% from the floor
and totaled 12 steals. Dickinson forced 20 Washington turnovers,
while committing just 13.
Kile had 15 points and a game-topping 16 rebounds
for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior guard
Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood
Catholic) added 10 points for the visitors. Sophomore
guard Meghan Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) handed
out a game-best five assists. Washington shot just 34% from the
field, but outrebounded Dickinson by a 39-32 tally.
Washington returns to action on Wednesday evening
with a 6:00 p.m. home contest against visiting Ursinus in the home
finale for the Shorewomen.
