Reilly Scores in Loss for Shorewomen

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Host MIT scored three times in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie en route to a 4-1 non-conference field hockey victory over visiting Washington College today in Cambridge, MA.  The Engineers improved to 5-0 with the win while the Shorewomen fell to 1-3 with the loss.

Molly Duffy gave MIT a 1-0 lead with 16:17 left in the first half when she scored in transition off an assist from Kameron Klauber.  Senior midfielder Gussie Reilly (Buck Hill Falls, PA/Mercersburg Academy) evened the score for the Shorewomen with 1:59 to play in the period when she scored off a feed from junior midfielder Hilary Manion (Trappe, PA/Archbishop Carroll).

All three second-half goals for MIT came during the first 12 minutes of the period. Klauber scored off an assist from Katie Kauffman with 29:18 left in the game.  Anna Teruya followed with an unassisted goal with 26:25 to go and scored again with 23:03 remaining, this time off an assist from Caitlin Mackey. 

Casey Landry played the first 55:13 in goal for MIT, making seven saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Steph Harryman (Churchton, MD/Southern) made five saves in the loss for the Shorewomen.

Each team got off 18 shots in the game. Washington held a 15-8 advantage in penalty corners, including a 12-2 advantage in the first half. 

The Shorewomen return to action with their Centennial Conference opener - a 12:00 p.m. home game against Johns Hopkins one week from today.
