Box Score Maddox Paces Balanced Offense with 15 Points
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Freshman guard Dee Maddox (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Collegiate) scored a career-high 15 points off the bench as all 12 Shorewomen who dressed scored at least two points each in Washington College's 80-30 Centennial Conference women's basketball win over visiting Bryn Mawr tonight at Cain Athletic Center.
The Shorewomen (9-9, 7-6 Centennial) sprinted out to a 35-10 halftime lead and never looked back. Washington's five starters combined to play a total of just 61 of the available 200 player-minutes in the contest. The Shorewomen shot 46% from the field in the game to Bryn Mawr's 26% and held a dominating 51-25 advantage on the glass.
Maddox's 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 4-for-4 shooting from the free-throw line resulted in her nabbing game-high scoring honors. Freshman guard Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) added 11 points, four steals, and seven rebounds for the Shorewomen, while freshman forward Carley Kendall (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) chipped in career highs of nine points and four steals and sophomore guard Emily Hubley (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) finished with seven points, seven steals, and a career-best six assists.
Sophomore center Mayana LeGrande (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy), a mid-year transfer from Division II Hawaii Pacific, made her Washington College debut in the game, scoring six points and tying Espinosa for game-high honors in rebounds with seven in just nine minutes of playing time.
Nicolette Parmese (12 points) and Jackie Handy (eight points and four steals) led the way for the Owls (1-15, 0-12) in the loss.
The 50-point margin of victory represents the Shorewomen's most lopsided win since a 97-24 victory over Valley Forge Christian on January 8th, 2009.
The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Franklin & Marshall.
