#8 Shoremen Cruise Past Wesley, 14-5

Six Shoremen Score First Career Goals in Win

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Eighth-ranked Host Washington College jumped out to a 9-1 halftime lead and cruised to a 14-5 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over visiting Wesley College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen improved to 4-0 with the win, while the Wolverines fell to 1-3 with the loss.

Washington also held a 30-12 advantage in shots in the first half. The Shoremen played deep into their bench throughout the second half. Senior attackman Matt Lewis (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg Country School) scored three goals in the first 23:10 of the game for Washington.  Six Shoremen scored their first career collegiate goals in the win, led by freshman midfielder Sid Looney (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton), who had two goals and one assist. Freshman attackman Zach Revak (Aston, PA/Archmere Academy [DE]), freshman midfielder Burke Harrington (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas), sophomore midfielder Sam Birnbaum (Melville, NY/Half Hollows Hills East), freshman attackman Casey Kermes (State College, PA/Northfield Mount Herman [MA]), and sophomore midfielder Will Rate (Doylestown, PA/LaSalle College H.S.) joined Looney with their first career goals.  Kermes also had an assist. Sophomore attackman Stephen Luck (Catonsville, MD/Boys' Latin) scored a pair of goals to join Lewis and Looney as multiple-goal scorers for Washington.

Junior goalie Ted DiSalvo (Boca Raton, FL/Spanish River) played the first half for the Shoremen, making six saves and allowing one goal. Sophomore goalie Beau Brady (Radnor, PA/Radnor) played the second half and made five saves while allowing four goals. Junior midfielder Michael Baker (Meridian, ID/Meridian) caused four Wesley turnovers in the win.

Lane Kocovsky scored twice to lead the Wolverines. Jathan Mahaffey added one goal and one assist. Matt Ryan made 12 saves for Wesley between the pipes.

The Shoremen finished the game with a 46-31 advantage in shots and went 26-for-27 on clears. Wesley turned the ball over 28 times and was 14-for-23 on clears. 

The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. home game against Catholic.
