Krahling Scores Nine To Lead WC

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host Haverford led wire-to-wire on its way to a 58-32 victory over visiting Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Gooding '84 Arena in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Fords are now 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 3-4 and 2-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Fords scored the game's first eight points to lead 8-0 with 5:13 left in the first quarter on a Samantha Wetzel jumper.  Washington would get its first basket with 4:07 remaining in the first on a layup by Emily Thiemann.  Haverford led 12-3 after the first quarter with Thiemann scoring all three of WC's points.
- After the teams traded baskets in the first 63 seconds of the second quarter, Haverford scored 12 straight points to take a 24-5 lead with 2:41 left in the second on a Megan Furch bunny.  The hosts would take a 26-7 lead into halftime. 
- Haverford outscored Washington, 15-11, in the third quarter to lead 41-18 after three.    
- In the fourth quarter, the Fords held a 17-14 advantage on the scoreboard to provide the final margin.     

For The Shorewomen (3-4, 2-3 CC)
- Alexis Krahling (nine points, four rebounds and two steals), Caitlyn Clark (four rebounds), Bridget McLaughlin (four rebounds), Thiemann (four rebounds).
- Washington shot 27% from the field (13-for-48), 17% from three-point range (1-for-6) and 83% from the foul line (5-for-6).
- Washington had 20 turnovers in the contest.
- The Shorewomen won the rebounding margin over the Fords by a 40-33 count.

For Haverford (7-2, 4-1 CC)
- Wetzel (18 points and 10 rebounds), Sierra Berkel (12 points), Maddie Gallic (six assists and three blocks), Furch and Katie Cook (two steals).
- The Fords tallied advantages in second chance points (12-8), bench points (14-12), points in the paint (24-12) and points off of turnovers (13-6).
- Haverford shot 41% from the field (22-for-54), 29% from behind the arc (5-for-17) and 53% from foul line (9-for-17).
- The Fords had seven turnovers in the win.
