Grieves Tallies Nine Points in Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Host Washington College scored all six first-quarter goals and cruised to a 20-4 non-conference men's lacrosse win over visiting St. Mary's (Md.) this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. Junior attackman Casey Grieves (Easton, Md./Sts. Peter & Paul) scored five goals and assisted on four others in the win for the Shoremen.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen's 6-0 first quarter was capped off by a goal by Peter Jacobs off an assist from Casey Grieves with 2.8 seconds remaining. It started with a flurry of four goals in a span of 87 seconds that saw them take a 4-0 lead on a Cody Pascale goal off a Grieves assist with 9:04 on the clock.
- Grieves ended the second quarter with a goal with five seconds left to give the Shoremen a 10-2 lead at the intermission.
- Washington had another flurry of goals in the third quarter, scoring four times in 1:44, the last three of which were extra-man goals. Grieves assisted on the final goal of the run as well, finding Tyler Powers with 3:20 left in the period.
- Ted Kapp supplied the final goal of the game with 4:01 left in the fourth quarter.

For the Shoremen (2-1)
- Scoring Leaders: Grieves (5 goals, 4 assists); Pascale (2 goals, assist); Tanner Barbieri (2 goals, assist); Charlie Walker (goal, 3 assists); Cooper Sloan (3 assists); Kevin Trapp (2 goals); Jacobs (goal, assist).
- In Goal: Ben Flood (9 saves, 3 goals allowed, 41:40); Chris Del Rosario (3 saves, 1 goal allowed, 18:20)
- The Shoremen enjoyed a 56-36 advantage in shots, a 39-18 advantage in ground balls, and a 16-11 edge in face-offs. They also went 5-for-6 on extra-man situations while allowing just one goal in five man-down situations.

For St. Mary's (1-3)
- Scoring Leaders: Ben Claffee (goal, assist)
- In Goal: Ross Snodderly (17 saves, 20 goals allowed, 60:00)

Notes
- Grieves was named the Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game.
- The Shoremen improved to 25-0 all-time against the Seahawks with the win. Their 16-goal margin of victory was their largest over the Seahawks since a 26-3 win in 1987.
