CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The host Washington College men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 9-0 lead en route to a 21-12 season-opening win over visiting Berry College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen scored eight goals in the first 11:09 of the game, capped off by a goal by Cooper Sloan off a Nick Boyles assist with 3:51 to play in the first quarter. The run began just 16 seconds into the game when Trey Ritter scored off an assist from Matt Schellenger. The Shoremen added their ninth goal to open the scoring 1:46 into the second quarter when Quinn Willis scored off a Cody Pascale feed.
- Berry scored the next three goals of the game, but the Shoremen got all three back before the halftime break as a Pascale goal off a Zack Gorrasi assist with 48 seconds left gave them a 12-3 cushion.
- The Shoremen's lead was between eight and 11 goals throughout the second half. Their first 11-goal lead of the game when Sloan found Casey Grieves for a man-down goal with 5:45 remaining in the third quarter.

- Scoring Leaders: Pascale (5 goals, 2 assists); Sloan (4 goals, 3 assists); Grieves (4 goals, 2 assists); Gorrasi (2 goals, 3 assists); Sean Reilly (goal, 2 assists); Willis (2 goals)
- In Goal: Chris Del Rosario (21 saves, 10 goals allowed, 53:54); Connor Cunningham (7 saves, 2 goals allowed, 6:06)
- Kevin Wilson had a game-high three caused turnovers for the Shoremen. The Shoremen held a 37-30 advantage in ground balls and won 19 of the game's 36 face-offs.  

For Berry (0-2)
- Scoring Leaders: Hudson Harris (3 goals, 2 assists); Justin Westbrook (3 goals); Thomas Brennan (goal, 2 assists); Jason Wilhelm (2 goals); Chris Berchock (2 goals)
- In Goal: Riley Brogdon (10 saves, 21 goals allowed, 60:00)
- Berry held a 52-43 advantage in shots in the game.  

Notes
- Del Rosario was named the Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game. His 21 saves, in his first career start, exceeded his total of 15 from all of last season.
