Del Rosario Matches Career-High in Saves with 22 and Grieves Tallies Six Points to Lead Shoremen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College scored the game's first four goals and never trailed on its way to a 15-9 victory over visiting Colorado College at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium on Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action.  The Shoremen are now 5-6 overall, while the Tigers drop to 7-5.

How It Happened
- Washington scored the game's first four goals to lead 4-0 with 4:30 left in the first quarter on a Cooper Sloan goal from Casey Grieves.  Each team scored one goal the rest of the first as the Shoremen led 5-1 after one.
- The Shoremen took their biggest lead of the half with 6:38 remaining in the second quarter on a Kevin Trapp score from Sloan before the Tigers scored two straight to trim the lead to 7-4 with 1:00 left in the second on a Coby Petau finisher from Tyler Borko. 
- In the final minute of the second, the Tigers looked to cut it to 7-5, but Borko's shot with 27 seconds left was stopped by Chris Del Rosario and on the other end Grieves scored unassisted with five second left to give WC an 8-4 edge at halftime.
- Washington outscored Colorado College, 4-1, in the third to take a 12-5 lead after three with Grieves netting two of the four.
- The Shoremen took their biggest lead of the game with 11:46 on a Joe Tobin goal from Sloan at 14-5 before the Tigers scored four of the final five goals to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (5-6)
- Scoring: Grieves (four goals and two assists for game-best six points), Sloan (one goal and four assists), Cody Pascale (three goals and two helpers), Trapp (one goal and two assists), Trey Ritter (two scores), Nick Boyles (two helpers)
- In Goal: Chris Del Rosario (56:29, seven goals allowed, 22 saves to tie career-best), Ryan Leahy (3:31, two goals, one save)
- Kevin Wilson (three caused turnovers to match career-best and fourth time in career)
- Washington was 24-for-27 in clears in the contest and was 2-for-5 on the man-up.
- Lawrence Park went 10-for-22 on face-offs and had eight ground balls.
- Washington had 18 turnovers, while causing five Colorado College turnovers.

For Colorado College (7-5)
- Scoring: Petau (three goals), Borko (two assists), Elliot Nelson (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Andrew Harwood (56:55, 15 goals allowed, 13 saves), Brice Tucker (3:05, zero goals allowed and zero saves)  
- Jack Ammons and Drake Gillis (three caused turnovers each)
- The Tigers were 17-for-19 in clears, 1-for-2 in man-up situations and turned it over 14 times, while notching nine caused turnovers.
- Colorado College held a 43-42 advantage in ground balls.
- Jacob Rogers went 16-for-26 at the X and picked up six ground balls in addition to recording an assist.

Notes
- Del Rosario was named the Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game on the webcast as he tied his career best in stops as he had 22 saves on March 13 at #15 Christopher Newport.
- It was the first time the two schools met since the first round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament won by the Shoremen 10-7 here in Chestertown.  Bennett Cord '13, who is currently an assistant coach for Washington, had two goals in the game.
- Both teams tallied 51 shots in the game.
