Shorewomen Use Strong Fourth Quarter in 77-70 Win over Red Devils

Jones and McLaughlin Each Score 14 Points in Victory

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College outscored visiting Dickinson 27-16 in the fourth quarter to turn a 54-50 deficit entering the final quarter into a 77-70 win on Saturday afternoon at the Cain Athletic Center in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen are now 8-10 overall and 5-8 in the Centennial, while the Red Devils fall to 9-8 and 7-5 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen led 9-4 with 5:37 to go in the first quarter on a three-pointer by Crystal Jones.  Dickinson however would outscore WC 15-10 the rest of the first to force a 19-19 tie.
- Claudia Maira would can a three-pointer with 4:10 to go in the second quarter to cap a 14-6 run to give the Red Devils a 33-25 lead.  The Shorewomen would counter with a 7-3 answer to end the second and trailed by just four at halftime at 36-32.
- In the third quarter, trailing 46-45 with 3:10 left, the Red Devils outscored the Shorewomen 9-4 to rest of the way to take a 54-50 lead heading into the fourth.
- Dickinson's Emily Padalino would knot the game at 66-66 with 3:15 to go in the fourth quarter on a pair of free throws.  Washington would take control of the game with a 7-0 run to lead 73-66 with 1:03 remaining on two Bridget McLaughlin free throws.  Cassidy Quattro began the run with two from the foul line with 2:30 to go to put the hosts ahead for good at 68-66.  The closest the Red Devils got the rest of the way was five with 58 ticks left on a Kate Deutsch basket that trimmed the lead to 73-68.  WC made four free throws in six tries to seal the win.

For The Shorewomen (8-10, 5-8 CC)
- Jones (14 points), McLaughlin (14 points), Quattro (11 points and team-high six rebounds), Caitlyn Clark (11 points and game-highs of five assists and five steals)
- Washington shot 47% from the field (24-for-51), 47% from three-point range (7-for-15) and 71% from the foul line (22-for-31)
- Washington had 12 turnovers in the contest.
- The Shorewomen outscored the Red Devils in second-chance points (9-7), bench points (29-17), points in the paint (24-20) and transition points (7-2). 

For Dickinson (9-8, 7-5 CC)
- Deutsch (game-bests of 15 points and nine rebounds), Halle Maeda (11 points), Maura Leverone (12 points), Maira (four assists)
- Dickinson shot 43% from the field (23-for-54), 38% from behind the arc (8-for-21) and 73% from foul line (16-for-22). 
- Dickinson held a 15-10 advantage in points off turnovers.
- The Red Devils had 15 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- McLaughlin was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game.
- Each team pulled down 33 rebounds in the contest.
