Clark Scores 14 Points In 68-48 Loss Against McDaniel

Westminster, Md. — Senior guard Caitlyn Clark scored a team-high 14 points, but it wasn't enough as the Washington College Shorewomen dropped a 68-48 decision against the McDaniel Green Terror, Wednesday evening at the Gill Center. The Shorewomen fell to 10-14 (7-12 Centennial Conference) while Green Terror improved to 10-14 (6-13 Centennial Conference).

How It Happened 

- Clark scored five of Washington's first seven points, including a right-wing trey that gave the Shorewomen a 7-4 advantage at the 6:10 mark of the opening quarter.
- The hosts received a layup from Natalie Mehl and Malory Conroy followed with a pair of free throws to give McDaniel the lead for good, 8-7, at the 4:20 mark.
- The Green Terror went on to score nine more points in a row, completing a 13-0 run that pushed their lead to 17-7 with 1:53 left in the opening stanza.
- Washington responded as Crystal Jones knocked down consecutive left-wing three-pointers to cut the deficit to 17-13 with twenty-five seconds left.
- Maggie Burgess then beat the buzzer with a three from the top of the circle to spot the hosts a 20-13 edge after the opening frame.
- Clark got the Shorewomen off to a good start with a jumper to open up the second quarter, however, McDaniel scored six straight to extend their lead to 26-15 after a conventional three-point play by Liv Story with 8:40 remaining.
- The visitors answered with a pair of free throws from Cassidy Quattro and a transition layup by Andrea Prestianne to inch within 26-19, but the Green Terror went on a 13-2 burst to widen their lead to 39-21 with 2:52 left before the half. Mehl and Burgess capped the spurt with consecutive long-distance shots.
- Lizzie Hudock's layup with thirty-five second left brought the Shorwomen within 39-23 at the break.
- The hosts scored the first eight points of the third quarter to take their largest lead of the game, 47-23, with 8:10 left in the stanza.
- The Shorewomen responded with a 13-6 run to close within 53-36 after a jumper by Prestianne at the 1:22 mark. Prestianne scored five points during the stretch and Clark added four.
- Washington managed to get as close as 55-42 with 7:29 left in the contest after Quattro converted four straight attempts from the line. However, the Green Terror scored the next six points, including a dagger four-point play by Mehl with 3:42 left to make it 61-42.

For the Shorewomen
- Clark went 6-for-14 from the floor and was the only player in double-figures for Washington. It was her 11th game in double-figures this season. Prestianne finished with nine points and Quattro grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- The Shorewomen made 17-of-64 of their overall attempts (28.6 percent), went 4-for-19 from downtown (21.1 percent) and were 10-for-11 from the charity-stripe (90.9 percent).

For McDaniel
- Mehl hit 4-of-7 attempts from behind the arc and paced the hosts with 15 points. Burgess (13 points) and Conroy (11 points) were also in double-digits.
- The Green Terror shot 42.6 percent overall (26-of-61), hit 8-of-23 (34.8 percent) from behind the arc, and went 8-for-9 (88.9 percent) from the line.
