Box Score Team Will Play Host York (Pa.) for Championship
YORK, Pa. – The Washington College women's basketball team outscored Montclair State, 13-3, over the final 6:11 to come away with a 55-47 win over Saturday afternoon at Wolf Gymnasium in the first round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at York (Pa.). The Shorewomen improve to 2-0 overall, while it was the season opener for Red Hawks. Washington will take on the host Spartans in the championship game at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Red Hawks scored the final six points of the first quarter to take an 8-7 lead after one with Kendall Hodges putting the Red Hawks ahead for the first time on a three-pointer with 13 seconds left.
- Montclair State held a slim 15-14 advantage in the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead at halftime. Rachel Thiem canned a three-point with 24 seconds left for Washington College to cut the deficit to two.
- Washington used a 19-9 third quarter to take a 40-32 lead after three. Kayleigh White would put the Shorewomen ahead 27-26 on a layup with 7:45 left in the third to put the team ahead for the rest of the third. Madeline Williams capped the scoring with two seconds left on a free throw to give WC an eight-point edge heading into the fourth.
- In the fourth, Montclair State came out strong with a 12-2 run to retake the lead at 44-42 with 6:11 left on two free throws by Julia Sutton.
- Joy Sanders would tie it 24 seconds later on a layup and would ignite a 9-0 run for Washington as they took a 51-44 lead with 58 ticks left on two free throws by Williams. Crystal Jones netted two free throws with 3:41 left to put Washington ahead for good at 46-44.
- The Shorewomen hit four free throws in the final 53 seconds to seal the win.
For The Shorewomen (2-0)
- Andrea Prestianne (game-high 17 points), Crystal Jones (double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds), Williams (squad-best three steals)
- WC shot 35% from the floor (15-for-43), 25% from three-point range (4-for-16) and 68% (21-for-31) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 43-37 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 26 times, while forcing 21 turnovers by the Red Hawks.
- WC outscored Montclair State in second-chance points, 10-5, and bench points, 16-9.
For Montclair State (0-1)
- Sutton (team-high 15 points), Kendall Hodges (14 points and four steals), Megan Duffy (team-high seven boards), Trisha Peterson (game-high six steals)
- The Red Hawks shot 26% from the floor (17-for-66), 16% from three-point land (5-for-31) and 62% from the foul stripe (8-for-13).
- Montclair State had 20 turnovers in the game and forced 13 steals.
- The Red Hawks outscored the Shorewomen in transition points (5-4), points off turnovers (15-13) and points in the paint (18-16).

- Prestianne tied her career-high in points (17) which she set last Saturday against Notre Dame (Md.).
