LANCASTER, Pa. – The visiting Washington College women's basketball team won its Centennial Conference opener in a 50-42 win over host Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at the Mayser Center in the conference opener for both squads. The Shorewomen are now 4-1 overall on the season, while the Diplomats fall to 2-2 overall on the season.

How It Happened
- After Franklin & Marshall took a 3-0 lead 2:22 into the game on a Kenzie Brady three-pointer, Washington scored 11 unanswered points to take an 11-3 lead with 58 ticks left on a free throw by Joy Sanders. Andrea Prestianne put the Shorewomen ahead 5-3 with 4:39 to go in the opening quarter on a layup as they led 11-5 after one.
- Trailing 14-5 in the second quarter, the Diplomats went on an 8-1 run to cut the lead to 15-13 on a three-pointer by Maia Lockhart with 3:33 to go. .
- Washington would score five of the final seven points to take a 20-15 lead into halftime as Kaleigh White canned a jumper with a second left to cap the scoring.
- Lizzie Hudock would give Washington its first double-digit lead of the game when she netted a free throw to put the guests ahead 29-19 with 6:32 left in the third quarter. Washington led by as many as 14 at 37-23, took a 37-25 lead into the fourth.
- The Shorewomen took their largest lead of the game of 15 points at 41-26 with 6:31 left in the fourth quarter on two Serena Pluta free throws.
- F&M would cut the lead to six points on two occasions, the final time coming with 40 seconds left on a three by Ally Trebelev to trim the lead to 48-42. However, the Diplomats would score another point and the Shorewomen made two free throws in the last 31 ticks to provide the final margin.
For The Shorewomen (4-1, 1-0 CC)
- Prestianne (game-high 12 points), Crystal Jones (11 points and game-high three steals), Pluta (team-best seven rebounds), Madeline Williams (three assists to tie for contest-high)
- WC shot 29% from the floor (16-for-54), 15% from three-point range (2-for-13) and 64% (16-for-25) from the foul line in the game.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 14 times.
- WC outscored Franklin & Marshall in points in the paint, 24-14, points off turnovers, 18-5, and transition points, 9-0.
For Franklin & Marshall (2-2, 0-1 CC)
- Kenna Williams (team-high 10 points and game-best 13 rebounds for double-double; two blocks to lead all players), Trebelev (three assists to tie for game-best)
- The Diplomats shot 25% from the floor (12-for-49), 36% from three-point land (4-for-11) and 67% from the foul stripe (14-for-21).
- Franklin & Marshall had 26 turnovers in the game.
- The Diplomats outscored the Shorewomen in second chance points (8-7) and bench points (18-14).

- It was Washington's first win at Franklin & Marshall since a 70-60 win on February 8, 2014.
