Gittelman Scores First Career Goal for WC

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #11 Christopher Newport jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter on its way to an 18-4 win over host Washington College in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.  The Captains improve to 4-0 overall, while the Shoremen are now 1-1.

How It Happened
- The Captains scored the game's first two goals in a 47-second span to lead 2-0.  Will Stockhausen opened the scoring with 12:27 to go in the first quarter and Dylan Rice scored unassisted with 11:40 left. Ewan Temple would get the Shoremen on the board with 7:41 left in the first on an unassisted tally to trim the lead to 2-1.
- Christopher Newport would take control of the game with three goals in the final 89 seconds of the first to lead 5-1 after one.  Brady Altobello scored with 1:29 and 52 seconds left respectively before Jackson Deal scored to beat the buzzer to end the quarter.
- The guests scored all five goals in the second quarter to lead 10-1 at halftime.
- Washington would score the first two goals of the third quarter to cut the lead to 10-3.  Kyle Gittelman tallied his first career goal 30 seconds in the third and Charlie Wittich finished off a Joe Maimone feed just 2:19 into the third.  However, the visitors tallied four of the final five goals of the third to lead 14-4 after three.
- In the fourth, Christopher Newport held a 4-0 advantage to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (1-1)
- Scoring: Logan Clefisch, Gittelman, Temple, Wittich (goal), Maimone (assist)
- In Goal: Chris Del Rosario (60:00, 18 goals allowed, 12 saves)
- Gittelman (four ground balls)
- Washington was 16-for-26 in clears in the contest and did not get a  man-up situation.
- Washington had 23 turnovers, while causing five Christopher Newport turnovers.

For Christopher Newport (4-0)
- Scoring: Dylan Rice (three goals and three assists), Altobello (four goals), Stockhausen and Zack Sands (two goals and one assist), Alex Brendes (two assists and one goal), Coby Auslander (three assists), Deal (two goals), Thomas Mark and Drew Miller (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Zac Hanway (30:00, one goal allowed, five saves), Andrew Clark (17:58, three goals allowed and three stops), Thomas Brackett (zero goals allowed and two saves)  
- Sands (13-for-15 at the X and nine ground balls)
- The Captains were 19-for-20 in clears, 3-for-4 in man-up situations and turned it over 17 times, while notching nine caused turnovers.
- Christopher Newport held a 54-28 advantage in shots and held a 44-19 edge in ground balls.
- The guests went 18-for-25 at the X for the contest.
