Hudock's Double-Double Sparks Shorewomen to 64-52 Win over Bears

First Career Double-Double for the Junior

Game Highlights 

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Junior forward Lizzie Hudock (Salem, N.J./Salem) notched her first career double-double with personal bests of 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds as host Washington College topped visiting Ursinus, 64-52, on Wednesday night  at Penny J. Fall Gym in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen improve to 8-3 on the season and 4-2 in the Centennial, while the Bears drop to 2-8 and 2-4 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen led 11-10 after one quarter as Crystal Jones made a three-pointer with 33 seconds left in the opening quarter to give WC the lead. 
- Ursinus scored the opening five points of the second quarter to take a 15-11 lead on a layup by Chinwe Irondi with 8:11 remaining.  The lay-in was the first time in the game that either team led by more than one possession.
- Washington responded with a 10-2 run to take a 21-17 lead with 3:57 left in the second on a Hudock lay-in and it was WC's first lead by more than a possession in the contest.
- Tied at 21-21 following an Irondi layup with 3:20 left, Washington scored four of the final five points to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.
- In the third quarter, the Bears were down 34-28 with 6:01 left following a Hudock bucket before scoring eight of the next 10 points to knot the game at 36-36 with 3:08 remaining on a Kelly Grant three.
- On the next possession, Joy Sanders put WC ahead for the rest of the game on a jumper at 38-36 with 2:52 left as the hosts took a 40-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
- WC took control of the game in the fourth quarter, opening the stanza on a 16-5 run to take a 56-41 lead with 5:28 left on a Hudock lay-in.  The 15-point advantage was the biggest of the game for the hosts.  Ursinus would get within 10 points, 56-46, with 2:29 left on an Irondi layup, but could draw no closer.

For The Shorewomen (8-3, 4-2 CC)
- Hudock (career-highs of 15 points and 16 rebounds; game-best in rebounds), Andrea Prestianne  (game-bests of 16 points and three steals; four assists), Serena Pluta (11 points and two blocks to set personal-bests in both), Sanders (10 points), Madeline Williams (four assists)  
- WC shot 37% from the floor (25-for-67), 20% from three-point range (3-for-15) and 79% (11-for-14) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 51-32 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 12 times.
- WC outscored Ursinus in points in the paint, 34-14, points off turnovers, 15-3, second-chance points, 24-7, and bench points, 13-3.

For Ursinus (2-8, 2-4 CC)
- Irondi (team-highs of 15 points and 13 boards for double-double to go along with a game-best three rejections and squad-high two steals), Grant (12 points and game-topping six assists), Gabby Downs (12 points)
- The Bears shot 34% from the floor (19-for-56), 29% from three-point land (8-for-28) and 50% from the foul stripe (6-for-12).
- Ursinus had 13 turnovers in the game and scored the only two transition points in the game.

Notes
- Hudock was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.  In addition to her 16 boards being a career-best, it was the most by a Shorewoman this season in rebounds.  The last Washington player to pull down 16 rebounds in a game was Kristi Kozlowski '19 at Immaculata on December 19, 2016.
- Hudock's double-double was the fourth by a WC player this season.  The other were by Kiersten Rose on November 6 against Notre Dame (Md.) (11 points and 15 rebounds), Jones on November 13 versus Montclair St. (10 points and 10 rebounds) and Sanders on November 30 at Bryn Mawr (11 points and 10 boards).
