Sophomore women's swimmer
Emily Iampieri (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) and senior women's basketball player
Joy Sanders (Baltimore, Md./Cristio Rey Jesuit) share this week's Shorewoman of the Week honor. Iampieri and Sanders both helped their team go undefeated this past week.
Iampieri won three individual events and was part of a winning relay team in the Shorewomen's 181-75 victory at St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday. She captured the 50-yard freestyle (25.37), 100 freestyle (54.81) and 200 freestyle (2:01.71) events. In the 400 freestyle relay, she teamed up with
Kylee Smith,
Anna Miller and
Kennedy Jones to win the relay in 3:49.40.
Sanders averaged 15.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds a game in a 2-0 week for the Shorewomen. On Saturday, she capped her 13-point performance, which was a team-best, with the game-winning layup with two seconds left to give Washington a 53-52 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial opener. On Tuesday night in a 52-47 win over visiting Marymount, Sanders tallied her second career double-double with a career-high 17 points and tied her personal best in rebounds with 10 as she led all players in both categories.
This is Sanders' third career Shorewoman of the Week honor and Iampieri's second career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
