Shorewomen Rally From Five Points Down In Final Minutes To Knock Off Franklin & Marshall, 62-55

PRESTIANNE SCORES 11 POINTS IN FINAL QUARTER, INCLUDING NINE OVER FINAL 2:13 OF CONTEST

CHESTERTOWN, Md - Washington College junior guard Andrea Prestianne scored 11 of her team-high 18 points in a wild fourth quarter to help give the Shorewomen a, 62-55, Centennial Conference victory against the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats on Thursday evening at Penny J. Fall Gym. The victory secured the program's first winning campaign in ten seasons as the Maroon and White improved to 14-8 overall and 10-7 in the league. The visitors fell to 9-13 overall and 7-10 in the conference.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen trailed by a score of 7-6 in the opening quarter but scored the final 11 points over a span of 2:49 to move ahead. Junior forward Lizzie Hudock ignited the burst with back-to-back buckets, Prestianne and senior guard Madeline Williams each converted a layup, and senior guard Crystal Jones beat the horn with a triple.
- The visitors scored the first nine points of the second quarter to trim the deficit to 17-16 at the 7:55 mark. Senior forward Kenna Williams scored six points and junior guard Natalie Kolb connected on a 3-pointer during the stretch.
- Franklin & Marshall eventually took the lead, 22-21, after junior guard D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene converted a pair of free throws with 4:02 left before intermission.
- Junior guard Joy Sanders answered with a trifecta to open an 11-5 spurt to close out the quarter. Sanders produced seven points during the stretch that provided the hosts with a 32-27 lead at the half.
- Washington took their largest lead of the game, 36-29, after freshman forward Kiersten Rose swished a jumper with 7:54 left in the third quarter.
- The hosts still led 41-36 at the 3:30 mark, however, the Diplomats closed the quarter on a 7-3 spurt to close within 44-43 entering the final stanza.
- Franklin & Marshall moved ahead by a score of 45-44 with 8:24 left in the contest and then widened their lead to 50-46 with 5:26 left.
- The Shorewomen inched within 50-48 after Prestianne delivered a pair of free throws with 3:53 left, but senior forward Alisyn Narracci answered with a 3-pointer to make it 53-48 with 3:04 remaining.
- Jones then matched Narracci with a clutch long-range bomb to make it 53-51 with 2:47 left. 
- Prestianne followed with back-to-back jumpers to give the hosts the lead for good, 55-53, with 1:02 left. 
- The Diplomats were still within 56-55 with 26 ticks left after a layup by Williams, however Madeline Williams converted two clutch free throws to spot the hosts a 58-55 edge with 23 seconds left.
- Kolb had an opportunity to even the contest but misfired on a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left.
- Prestianne hit one of two from the line to ice the game and added a 3-pointer at the buzzer for good measure.

For the Shorewomen
- Prestianne went 6-for-13 from the field overall, was 1-for-3 from 3-point land, and made 5-of-8 free throws in 28 minutes. She also added five assists and a pair of steals.
- Jones (13 points) and Hudock (10 points, 2 steals) were also in double-figures.
- Williams paced the team with seven boards and distributed four assists.

For the Diplomats
- Williams recorded a double-double of 18 points (5-9 FGA, 8-9 FTA) and 12 rebounds in 37 minutes. She also added four blocks and two steals.
- Greene and freshman guard Quinn Galligan each added eight points.

Notes
- The Shorewomen remain in a fourth-place tie with Dickinson in the Centennial standings.
- Washington shot 38.3 percent overall (23-of-60), made 5-of-14 (35.7 percent) of their 3-point attempts, and were 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) from the line.
- F&M went 18-of-53 overall (34 percent), 3-for-20 (15 percent) from downtown, and 16-20 (80 percent) from the line.
- The visitors held a 41-35 advantage on the boards but Washington outscored them by a 20-12 count from inside the paint.
- Washington also outscored the Diplomats by a 25-7 margin in points off turnovers.
