Shorewomen Defeated By Muhlenberg In Regular-Season Finale, 71-57

Chestertown, Md – Washington College junior guard Andrea Prestianne scored a game and career-high 19 points but it wasn't enough as the Shorewomen lost their regular-season finale against the Muhlenberg Mules (11-14, 7-13), 71-57, on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gym. The Shorewomen finished the regular-season with a 16-9 mark, equaling a single-season program record for wins. The squad finished 12-8 in the Centennial Conference and will be the No. 5 seed when they travel to No. 4 seeded Dickinson on Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen jumped out to a 7-2 lead after Prestianne's triple from the top of the key at the 6:39 mark, however, the Mules went on a 7-2 run to claim a 15-9 advantage with 1:31 left in the first quarter.
- Senior guard Crystal Jones converted a twisting driving layup that resulted in a conventional three-point play to bring the hosts within 15-12 and the visitors settled for a 16-12 advantage after the opening stanza.
- Prestianne stuck a trifecta from the left-wing and then converted a pair of free throws to give the hosts a 17-16 edge with 8:36 left in the half.
- Jones followed with a long-range field goal from the top of the circle to make it 20-16 at the 7:30 mark.
- The Mules answered with a 7-2 spurt to claim a 23-22 lead after Tara Szawaluk 3-pointerwith 4:17 left, but junior guard Joy Sanders hit two free throws and Jones finished a fast-break layup to spot the hosts a 26-23 edge.
- The Shorewomen still held a 29-28 lead after senior Maddie Williams scored in the post, however, Muhlenberg scored the final five points to take a 33-29 lead at intermission. Senior forward Margaux Eripret completed a conventional 3-point play and junior forward Sara Peretti finished a fast-break layup with five seconds left.
- Trailing 36-29 early in the third quarter, Prestianne drilled consecutive left-wing treys to inch the hosts within a point at the 6:28 mark.
- The hosts pulled even for the final time in the contest after Sanders recorded a steal and layup at the 4:40 mark.
- Muhlenberg then went on a game-winning 15-2 run that extended into the fourth quarter. The stretch gave the visitors a 54-41 advantage with 9:05 remaining in the contest.
- Sophomore center Serena Pluta (7 boards) brought the hosts within 56-45 after hitting a jumper with 6:45 left, but the Mules scored the next seven points to take their largest lead of the game at 63-45 with just 3:50 left in the contest.

For the Shorewomen
- Prestianne enjoyed her best long-distance shooting performance of the season, hitting a season-best five treys (5-for-9). She finished 5-for-13 from the field overall and was 4-for-4 from the charity-stripe in 31 minutes of action.
- Jones added 16 points and four assists in 29 minutes.
- Sanders was also in double-figures with 14 points and added six caroms.
- Freshman forward Kiersten Rose pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.

For the Mules
- Eripret led four players in double-figures with 16 points and also pulled down a game-high 13 caroms in 29 minutes.
- Szawaluk and Peretti (5 boards) both contributed 12 points while senior forward Amanda Gorski chipped in with 10.
- Junior guard Ava Connolly distributed a game-high seven assists.

Notes
- The Shorewomen made 20-of-58 field goal attempts (34.5 percent), hit 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) treys, and were 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from the line.
- The Mules shot 35.8 percent overall (24-of-67), went 8-for-25 (32 percent) from deep, and were 15-for-23 (65.2 percent) from the line.
- The visitors held a slight 45-42 edge on the boards and forced 19 turnovers compared to 10 of their own.
- The Mules held a 23-8 edge in points off turnovers and a 23-10 advantage on second-chance points.
