Box Score Nostrant Notches First Win as WC Coach
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College used an 11-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to turn a 5-4 deficit into a 15-5 lead on its way to a 17-7 win over visiting Widener on Wednesday night on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen are now 1-3 on the year, while the Pride fall to 1-5. With the win, John Nostrant '86 picked up his first win as head coach of the Shoremen.

How It Happened
- Luke Brennan scored the only goal of the first quarter with 10:54 remaining.
- In the second quarter with the game tied at 2-2, Ewan Temple scored his second goal of the quarter with 1:13 left from Brady McFalls to give the Shoremen a 3-2 lead at halftime.
- Widener scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter to take a 5-4 lead with 10:11 remaining on a Matt Buckley goal from Jayce Dyer.
- Brennan would tie the game at 5-5 with 6:33 left in the third from McFalls and it would ignite an 11-goal run that spanned a stretch of 14:25 during the third and fourth quarters. McFalls would give WC the lead for good with 3:15 left in the third from Temple that made it 6-5 and McFalls rounded out the third quarter scoring with 31 ticks to go from Ben Dickinson as the hosts took an 8-5 advantage into the fourth.
- The Shoremen scored the first seven goals of the fourth to push their lead to 15-5 with 7:09 to go on a Brennan score from McFalls.
- Connor Heisman ended the run for the Pride as he scored with 6:40 left from Jimmy Knepp to trim the lead to 15-6.
- WC scored two of the last three goals to complete the scoring.
For The Shoremen (1-3)
- Scoring: McFalls (career-highs of seven points and three assists to go along with four goals to tie for game-high), Temple (personal-bests of seven points and four goals in addition to tying his career-high in assists with three), Brennan (career-best of three goals, three assists and six points), Logan Clefisch (two goals)
- In Goal: Ryan Leahy (53:02, five goals allowed, seven saves), Cole Corrigan (3:48, two goals allowed, zero saves), Robert Eiganrauch (3:10, zero goals allowed, one save)
- Jackson Torppey (career-best two caused turnovers)
- Gabe Velasquez won a career-best 15 face-offs in 18 attempts and picked up a personal-high six ground balls as the Shoremen won 21 of the game's 28 face-offs.
- Washington was 18-for-21 in clears in the contest, was 2-for-3 on the man-up and outshot the visitors, 36-31.
- Washington had 31 turnovers, while causing 10 Widener turnovers and held a 41-30 advantage in ground balls.
For Widener (1-5)
- Scoring: Heisman (two goals and one assist), Buckley and Zach Politarhros (two goals)
- In Goal: Keegan Billie (38:22, 10 goals allowed, eight saves), Andrew Spencer (14:29, five goals allowed, zero saves), Sam Heister (7:09, two goals allowed, zero saves)
- The Pride were 17-for-25 in clears, 0-for-2 in man-up situations and turned it over 31 times, while notching 16 caused turnovers.
Notes
- Washington has won seven of the eight all-time meetings with Widener in a series that began in 1992.
