Box Score TEMPLE PUTS IN FIVE GOALS; DOMENECH DISTRIBUTES CAREER-HIGH FOUR ASSISTS; LEAHY MAKES 20 SAVES
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Freshman attackman Ben Dickinson scored on a behind-the-back shot with just over a minute left to give the host Washington College Shoremen a 9-8 victory over the Swarthmore Garnet, in a Centennial Conference contest at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Maroon and White improve to 2-8 overall and picked up their first conference victory (1-3) of the season. The Garnet fell to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in the league.
How It Happened
- The Shoremen jumped out to a 3-1 lead just eight minutes into the contest.
- Washington College struck first with a man-up goal at the 11:13 mark as junior attackman Luke Brennan took a feed from junior midfielder Kain Domenech and found the back of the net from just inside the top-center of the box.
- The visitors got even as Michael Hardiman bounced a shot past Shoreman senior goalie Ryan Leahy just two minutes later.
- The hosts went ahead when senior attackman Ewan Temple scored off an assist by junior attackman Logan Clefisch at the 7:29 mark.
- Temple struck again just twenty-eight seconds later after receiving a feed from senior defender Kyle Gittelman.
- Swarthmore closed within 3-2 as Von Mabbs scored off an assist by Quin Seivold at the 6:28 mark.
- Washington extended their lead to 4-2 with just seven seconds left in the quarter immediately after a turnover. Junior attackman Brady McFalls re-directed a feed from Temple from five yards out and Garnet goalie Shane Nachshen was caught off-balance
- Swarthmore opened the second quarter with a goal just twenty-seconds in. Ben Schaeffer came from behind the goal and snuck a shot into the upper-right corner.
- The Garnet evened the game at the 12:19 mark on man-up tally by Mabbs off an assist by Schaeffer.
- McFalls gave Washington the lead again with 9:02 left as he made a run down the center of the box and scored from point-blank range. Domenech was credited with his second helper after he spotted McFalls from behind the cage.
- The hosts widened their lead to 6-4 as Domenech set-up Temple with his third tally off the half at the 4:13 mark.
- The Shoremen expanded their lead to 7-4 at the 6:18 mark of the third quarter as Temple (goal) and Domenech (assist) connected for another marker.
- The Garnet got one back with 3:55 left in the third quarter as Hardiman scored off an assist from Seivold.
- The visitors closed within 7-6 as Schaeffer scored an unassisted goal with just over a minute left in the frame.
- The Shoremen killed off a pair of penalties early in the fourth period but Swartmore eventually evened the contest at the 8:20 mark on unassisted goal by Hardiman, who bullied his way to the cage.
-Temple collected a loose ball following a turnover and fired a winner from ten yards out past Nachshen with 5:28 left to make it 8-7 in favor of the hosts.
- Mabbs, however, tied the game again just over a minute later after taking a feed from PJ Cass.
- Dickinson scored the game-winner with 1:16 remaining as he cut in front of the net and flicked in a sensational, behind the back goal after receiving a feed from Brennan from the left-wing.
- Leahy made a great save off Cooper Bucklan from close-range with 24 seconds left to preserve the win.

-Temple, who got off 14 shots, scored a game-high five goals and added an assist.
-Domenech distributed a career-best four assists.
-McFalls scored a pair of goals
- Sophomore Jack Theriault picked up a career-best seven ground balls and went 12-of-21 on face-offs

-Leahy (2-8) faced 28 shots and made 20 saves in 60 minutes.
