Brennan Scores Twice and Factors in Three of the Team's Four Scores

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College men's lacrosse team suffered a setback in Saturday afternoon's matchup with No. 13 Gettysburg College, 11-4 at Roy Kirby Jr Stadium.

#13 Gettysburg 11 Washington College 4

How it happened
- The Shoremen (1-7, 0-3 Centennial) opened the game's scoring just over 90 seconds into the opening stanza. Junior attacker Luke Brennan notched his eighth goal of the season, narrowly dodging the crease as he gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
- Gettysburg (8-3, 3-0 Centennial) staked their claim on the remainder of the first quarter. Less than 30 seconds after Washington jumped ahead, senior midfielder Griffin Gallagher notched a solo finish to knot the contest at 1-1. In just over a two-minute span later in the period, sophomore attackman Quinton Mather scored twice to give the Bullets a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes.
- Again in the second, Brennan wasted little time finding the back of the net courtesy of a feed from junior attacker Logan Clefisch. The tally allowed the Shoremen to cut the margin to one, 3-2.
- As in the first, the Bullets responded to Washington's goal with three more of their own. Mather and Gallagher both scored again, while junior attackman George Raymond grabbed his first tally of the night to give Gettysburg a 6-2 lead at the break.
- The third quarter was a chippy one, totaling five penalties and just one goal. The lone score in the period favored the hosts, an unassisted screamer from freshman midfielder Cory Morgan cut the margin to three, 6-3.
- Through the opening five minutes of the final quarter, the Bullets swung back with another 3-0 run. After collecting an assist in the second quarter, freshman attackman Jack Dunleavy scored the first of the three finishes and assisted both others. Mather's fourth goal rattled in next, followed by a finish from junior attackman Aidan Wykoff. The burst put the visitors ahead, 9-3.
- The Shoremen snapped the run moments later. Junior midfielder Kain Domenech sent a bouncer through the legs of Gettysburg senior keeper Scott MacMillan to inch back into it, 9-4.
- Gettysburg swung back for the final times with 6:17 to play. Raymond struck again to give the visitors a double-digit advantage, and Mather put the bow on his career day, collecting his fifth score of the evening to set the final score, 11-4.
