Junior men's lacrosse player
Gabe Velasquez (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) is this week's Shoreman of the Week. Velasquez won 20 face-offs and set a career-best in ground balls to go along with one assist in two games this past week.
Velasquez went 14-for-16 on face-offs, scooped up a personal-high 11 ground balls and handed out an assist in the Shoremen's 15-7 win over Randolph-Macon on Friday night. After Randolph-Macon had cut the lead to 8-5, he won the face-off, picked up the ground ball and found
Ewan Temple for a goal to make it 9-5 that ignited a game-clinching 7-0 run for Washington. On Sunday against Cortland, the junior won six face-offs and picked up three ground balls.
This is Velasquez's first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
