ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – Host St. Mary's (MD) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to come back for an 8-7 win at the Hawk's Nest in non-conference baseball action on Monday afternoon.  The Seahawks are now 11-16 on the year, while the Shoremen drop to 10-11.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth and down 7-6, the Seahawks scored twice to take the lead.  Luke Green singled to right to score Stefano Muscatelli to tie the game at 7-7 and the next hitter, Brad Dioguardo, doubled to left to drive in Green to put the hosts up 8-7.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, junior Pat Kinsella (Guilford, CT/Guilford) tried to score from third base, but he was tagged out at the plate by St. Mary's pitcher Ben Goldsmith for the game's final out.

The Shoremen scored the game's opening run in the top of the first inning when junior Ian Remington (Guilford, CT/Guilford) scored on an RBI single to left by freshman Bryan Baquer (Woodbridge, VA/Osbourn Park) with one out.

St. Mary's would respond with three in the bottom half of the first.  With nobody out, Corey Napier tripled to right-center to score Green and Dioguardo to put the Seahawks up 2-1.  Napier would score on a sacrifice fly to right field by the next batter, Zach Nadolny for the frame's final run.

In the last of the second, Mike Schmidt would plate Michael O'Neill on an RBI groundout to first to put St. Mary's ahead 4-1 and Muscatelli scored on a two-out infield single to shortstop off the bat of Dioguardo to put the hosts ahead 5-1 after two innings.

The Shoremen scored twice in the top of the third and fourth innings to tie the game at 5-5.  In the third, a two-run double to left with two away by sophomore Kyle Mikula (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) scored Baquer and senior Tyler Cotterell (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the fourth, a pair of two out hits by Baquer and Matthews drove home senior Sean Connole (Mt. Airy, MD/St. John's Catholic) and Remington respectively to knot the game.

St. Mary's retook the lead at 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth when Napier scored on a fielder's choice.

Washington took the lead with two in the top half of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead with a pair of two out runs.  Baquer singled to center to chase in sophomore Michael Festa (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) to tie it and Baquer would touch the plate on a wild pitch to give the guests a one-run lead.  The lead would hold up until the end of the eighth.

Dioguardo was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while Napier had two hits, both on triples, two runs scored and two RBI for the Seahawks.  Muscatelli was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Green scored twice.  St. Mary's had 10 hits and no errors in the win.  On the hill, Goldsmith got the win and improves to 2-1 as he tossed the last five innings for the win.
