24 Runs Are The Most Runs In A Game By The Shoremen In Four Years

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Washington College baseball team opened its spring break trip with an offensive explosion in a 24-3 victory over Albertus Magnus at the Ripken Experience in a non-conference baseball game on Sunday night at Griffith Stadium.

How It Happened
-The Shoremen scored three times without the benefit of a hit in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead.  Joe Lozupone scored on a wild pitch for the game's first run.  Evan Hirschbaum hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Luke D'Ostilio to make it 2-0 with nobody out and with one away Matt Tancredi hit a sac fly to center to score Bryan Baquer.  Washington got its three runners on by two walks and a hit by pitch.
-WC plated four runs in the last of the second to take a 7-0 lead.  Lozupone worked out a bases loaded walk to score Wes Robertson to make it 4-0 and Logan Dubbé came home on a D'Ostilio sac fly to make it 5-0.  With one out, Baquer doubled to right-center to score both Garrett Richardello and Lozupone to cap the four-run frame.
-The Shoremen scored six times in the fourth, three times in the fifth, once in the sixth, twice in the seventh and five times in the eighth. 
-The Falcons scored their three runs in the top half of the sixth.

For The Shoremen (4-1-1)
-Hitting: Baquer (3-for-3, three runs, two RBI, walk), Hirschbaum (3-for-3, two runs), Jay Felts (3-for-3, three RBI), Meder (three RBI), Richardello (2-for-3, three RBI, two runs), Robertson (two runs and two RBI), Dubbé (two runs and two walks), Tancredi (2-for-2, two runs)
-Pitching: P.J. Mikulus (win 1-0, five innings, no runs, two hits and four strikeouts)
-Washington had 18 hits, worked out 13 walks and were hit four times.
-The Shoremen did commit one error in the field and led to three unearned runs.

For Albertus Magnus (0-2)
-Hitting: Steven Lockman (2-for-3, two RBI), Jordan Kublius (2-for-3)
-Pitching: Malachi Emond (loss 0-2)
-The Falcons had 10 hits in the game and also had one batter hit by a pitch.
-Albertus Magnus had four errors in the game and WC scored three unearned runs.

Notes
-The 24 runs were the most by a WC team since scoring 28 in a 28-1 victory over Curry on March 17, 2012.
-WC scored in every inning except the third inning.
