Box Score 2 Fredericksburg, (Va.) – Junior right fielder Chris Baker enjoyed a monster day to lead the visiting Washington College Shoremen to a sweep of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon at Dickinson Stadium. Baker went 4-for-6 with seven RBI's in the opener and was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's in the nightcap. The Shoremen came back to win the nine-inning game, 12-10, and also edged the Eagles 6-5 in six frames. The Shoremen improved to 5-1 while Mary Washington fell to 0-4. The two teams will meet again on Sunday in Chestertown for a doubleheader at noon.

How It Happened
- Trailing 10-9, the Shoremen scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on for a 12-10 victory.
- The Eagles got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning off starter Mike Smith. Left fielder Norman Holcomb delivered an RBI single and designated hitter Canon Davies followed with an RBI sacrifice fly.
- Washington College responded with five unearned runs on three hits and an error in the second. Left fielder Max Ruvo scored catcher Ryan Colbert with an RBI single and Baker cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right. Third baseman Joe Curtin followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to score Baker.
- The hosts scored three runs in the bottom of the third to even the game at 5-5. Davies recorded an RBI groundout and right fielder David Lambertson and third baseman Ty Lowe (double) had consecutive RBI hits.
- Baker put the Shoremen ahead in the top of the fourth with a single to center after designated hitter Dylan Nepert led off the frame with a single, however, the Eagles tied the game again in the bottom of the frame on another RBI single by Holcomb.
- Nepert drilled a homer to left in the top of the sixth to give the visitors a 7-6 advantage but the Eagles answered with two runs in their half of the inning to grab an 8-7 lead off reliever Ethan Kile. Swedmak tripled to right field to plate Holcomb and shortstop Garrett Lyons.
- The Shoremen re-claimed the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh. First baseman Danny Sheeler drove in Baker (single) with an RBI sacrifice fly and shortstop CJ Gillmer tripled to right to bring home second baseman Jack Kingman (single).
- Yet again, the hosts responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame to grab a 10-9 edge off reliever Ryan Mostoller. Catcher Owen Reilly had an RBI groundout and center fielder Caleb McAlister scored on a wild pitch.
- Washington College came up big as they posted three runs in the top of the eighth to move ahead by the final score of 12-10. Nepert got things rolling with a triple to center, center fielder Ben Ruvo was hit by a pitch, and then Baker cleared the bases as he ripped a three-run game-winning double to left.
- The Eagles threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but Ben Pika recorded a pair of outs with two runners on base to pick up the save

How It Happened
- The Shoremen scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to break a 1-1 deadlock.
- Washington College scored quickly as Kingman produced a two-out RBI single to plate Max Ruvo (single) in the top of the first. However, the hosts broke through off starter Jonah Frankel with a run in the bottom of the fourth. First baseman Nick Ciuffreda crossed the plate on and RBI groundout by catcher Anderew Gerhart.
- The Shoremen erupted in the top of the fifth as they put together five runs on four hits and the Eagles made a pair of costly errors. Baker launched a two-run bomb to right, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead. The Shoremen then loaded the bases, setting the stage for Gillmer. The shortstop reached on an error to score Curtin (single). Nepert then reached on another error as Kingman (single) scored. Catcher Nick Tamberino closed out the scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly to score Sheeler (HBP).
- Mary Washington put a scare into the Shoremen as they scored four times in the bottom of the fifth on three hits and an error. Right fielder Sam Freeborne and Gerhart both had two-run singles off reliever Jay Nesson.
- Relievers Michael Roseman and Alex Bendzlowicz came on to close the door before the game was called due to darkness.
