CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College baseball head coach Tom Fiala has named senior pitcher Anthony Sofran (Woolwich, N.J./St. Augustine Prep), junior pitcher/outfielder Cole McGee (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and sophomore infielder Noah Iseman (Worton, Md./Kent County) as team captains for the 2023 campaign.  McGee is a captain for the second straight year, while Iseman and Sofran are first time captains.

Sofran, the team's Most Improved Player in 2021, went 4-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 45 innings last spring.  He was second on the team in strikeouts with 35 in helping the Shoremen reach the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time in 10 years last spring.  In his career, he is 7-3 with 4.66 ERA in 73.1 innings with 63 strikeouts in 24 appearances.

McGee missed the 2022 due to injury.  In 2021, he appeared in 10 games in the field and had two hits.  On the mound, he did not allow a run in 1.2 innings pitched in three appearances.

Iseman as a freshman hit .324 with two home runs and 22 RBI last spring, including a grand slam against Haverford.  He is the team's top returner in home runs, RBI and slugging (.568).

The Shoremen are slated to open up their 2023 season on Saturday, February 18 when they travel to Mary Baldwin to play Hampden-Sydney for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
