Shoremen Split With Albright; Morrissey Throws Complete-Game Shutout In Opener with 14 K's

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Fort Pierce, Fla. – The Washington College baseball team split a doubleheader with Albright on Friday, taking the opener 7-0 and dropping the nightcap by a 5-1 margin. Freshman Joe Morrissey authored one of the more impressive games in recent program history as the right-hander threw a complete-game shutout in the opener and fanned 14 batters. The Shoremen now stand at 11-5 while the Lions are 1-13.

Game One, Washington College 7, Albright 0
How It Happened
- The Shoremen scored the only run they would need in the top of the first inning as freshman centerfielder Cael Magill reached on an error to open the game and came around to score on an RBI groundout by sophomore first baseman Danny Sheeler.
- Washington added another run in the top of the second as senior Henry Butterfield III stroked a two-out single to right field, plating senior shortstop CJ Gillmer (Hit by Pitch).
- The Shoremen widened the lead to 5-0 in the fifth on a pair of hits and an error. Sheeler smoked a two-run double to right and then scored on a throwing error.
- Washington scored their final two runs in the sixth as freshman catcher Mike Bukowski (single) and senior designated hitter Jack Kingman (single) both scored on a throwing error.
