Box Score 2 Fort Pierce, Fl. – The Shoremen concluded their spring break trip in Florida with a doubleheader sweep of the Franciscan Barons, 6-2 and 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Shoremen went 8-2 on the trip and now stand at 13-5 on the season. Senior left-hander Mike Smith took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and got the win in the opener. Junior right-hander Anthony Sofran was terrific in the nightcap to help deliver a sweep. The Barons fall to 7-3 on the season.

How It Happened
- Washington College broke the ice with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as sophomore first baseman Danny Sheeler followed up senior right fielder Chris Baker's one-out triple with an RBI single to left field.
- The Shoremen busted the game open with a five-run two-out rally in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior shortstop CJ Gillmer singled to center and came around to score on double by freshman center fielder Cael Magill. Freshman second baseman Erik Risnychok followed with an RBI single to center. Senior third baseman Joe Curtin then ripped a two-run single to center field to plate Baker (single) and Risnychok. Senior designated hitter Jack Kingman produced the final run with an RBI single up the middle to plate Sheeler (reached on error).
- The Barons scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth off Smith, who had only permitted one base runner over the first five frames. Right fielder Brendan Burke recorded an RBI sacrifice fly and designated hitter Ryan Anseimino had an RBI single.

Hitting
-Magill went 3-for-4 (RBI, 2B, run)
-Baker was 2-for-3 (2 runs, 3B)
-Sheeler finished 2-for-3 (run) with an RBI
-Curtin drove in a game-high two runs
Pitching
- Smith yielded two earned runs on two hits and two walks while fanning six.
- Freshman Alex Martin recorded his first career save as he retired four of the five batters he faced and struck out a pair.

- Anseimino and center fielder David Ferroni had the only hits in the contest
Pitching
- Starter Jacob Whitmore (1-2) took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings.
Notes
- Smith's ERA now stands at 1.47 through 18.1 innings on the mound.
- Martin has been fantastic over his first five career appearances and now sports a 1.64 ERA over 11.0 innings of work. He's allowed just five hits and was whiffed 11 batters.

How It Happened
-The Shoreman scored twice in the top of the third as they put together another two-out rally. Risnychok walked and scored on a triple to center by Baker. Sheeler followed by lining a single to center to score Baker.
-Washington widened their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth as Kingman scored Sheeler (single, stolen base) with a sacrifice fly to center.
-Franciscan scored a run in the bottom of the sixth as third baseman Aidan Hickey came through with a two-out RBI single to plate right fielder Burke.
For the Shoremen
Hitting
-Sheeler went 2-for-3 with an RBI, stolen base and a run scored.
-Freshman catcher Mike Bukowski was 2-for-3
Pitching
-Sofran (2-0) allowed one runs, scattered five hits, whiffed a career-high seven and walked just one batter in 5.2 innings.
-Right-handed reliever Alex Bendzlowicz (1.1 inn., 2 hits) came on for his second save in two days.
For the Barons
Hitting
-Second baseman Michael Maynard went 1-for-2 and drew a walk.
Pitching
-Dominic Brandi took the loss after allowing three earned runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings.
Notes:
- Sofran lowered his ERA to 2.45 over 22.0 innings.
- Magill has hit safely in 17-of-18 games and has scored at least one run in 14 contests.
