Baseball Edged By No. 13 Ranked Salisbury, 4-2

Salisbury, Md. – The Washington College baseball team was edged by the No. 13 ranked Salisbury Sea Gulls by a score of 4-2, Wednesday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium. The Shoremen fall to 13-6 while the hosts, the defending national champions, improve to 13-7.

How It Happened
-The Sea Gulls did most of their damage in the bottom of the third inning as they scored three runs off sophomore left-handed reliever Izaiah Santiago. Second baseman Dom Frigiola opened the scoring with an RBI double down the left-field line to score right fielder Cameron Hyder. Center fielder Kavi Caster then doubled down the right field line to score Frigiola, Catcher Geesaman produced an RBI sacrifice fly line out to plate Caster.
- The Shoremen cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning as senior designated hitter Jack Kingman ripped an RBI single to center to score senior right fielder Chris Baker (walk). Kingman eventually would come around to score on a balk.
- Salisbury added an insurance tally in the bottom of the frame as first baseman Sky Rahill singled up the middle to score Caster.

For the Shoremen
Hitting
- Sophomore first baseman Danny Sheeler went 2-for-4.
- Kingman finished 1-for-4 with an RBI.
- Baker was 1-for-4 with a double, run, and a walk.

Pitching
- Santiago (0-2) suffered the loss as he allowed three runs on three hits over 5.0 innings of work in relief. He walked two and fanned three.
- Senior right-hander Ryan Mostoller started and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits along with a walk and a pair of strike outs.

For the Sea Gulls
Hitting
- Caster was 3-for-4 (RBI) with two runs scored 
Pitching
-Benji Thalheimer improved to 3-0 as he allowed no runs on three hits over 6.1 innings. He walked three and recorded five punch outs.

Up Next
The Shoremen will host Widener for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
