Baseball Blanked by Haverford, 6-0

Haverford, PA – The Washington College baseball team dropped a 6-0 decision against the Haverford Fords, in a Centennial Conference contest on Friday afternoon. The Shoremen fall to 14-11 (0-4) while the Fords improve to 12-11 (3-1). Haverford's Mike Rabayda and Josh Fuller combined on a no-hitter for the first eight innings.

How It Happeend
- The hosts got on the board in the bottom of the first against junior right-hander Anthony Sofran, pushing across a run on two hits.  Second baseman Harry Genth singled through the left side to lead-off the frame and then swiped second base. Genth advanced to third on a groundout and then came around to score on an RBI groundout by left fielder Luke Smith.
- Haverford struck for two more runs in the bottom of the third when first baseman Zach Buck launched a two-run homer to right center. 
- The Fords widened their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh as Smith put down an RBI sacrifice bunt.
- Haverford put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Right fielder Daniel Rosman recorded an RBI infield single and Genth produced an RBI double

For the Shoremen
Hitting
- Freshman center fielder Cael Magill recorded the first Washington hit to lead off the ninth inning.
- Senior third baseman Joe Curtin went 1-for-4.
- Senior right fielder Chris Baker (stolen base), sophomore first baseman Danny Sheeler (1-for-3), and senior second baseman Brandon Hoffman drew walks.

Pitching
- Sofran (allowed three earned runs on six hits over 5.0 innings. He walked three and fanned a pair of batters.
- Junior right-hander Jay Nesson and senior right-hander Ethan Osgood each pitched a scoreless inning. 

For the Fords
Hitting
- Buck went 2-for-4 (HR) and drove in a pair of runs.
- Designated hitter Zach Crampton was 2-for-4 (2B).
- Shortstop Zach Becker finished 2-for-4
- Smith drove in a pair of runs.

Pitching
 -Starter Mike Rabayda (3-3) pitched 6.0 no-hit innings while fanning nine Shoremen against just one walk.
- Josh Fuller pitched three scoreless innings to pick up his second save.

Up Next
The Shoremen will host Ursinus on Sunday at Athey Park. The doubleader, originally scheduled for Saturday, will get underway at noon.
