How It Happened
- The Shoremen were down 9-0 going into the bottom of the second inning. Chase Ruppel and Reese Hirsh both hit singles to open the inning up for the Shoremen. A Tahir Parker double allowed Ruppel to score and the Shoremen were on the board, 1-0.
- An Earlham homer put them up 11-1 over the Shoremen in the top of the third. A double and two singles later, they were up 13-1.
- The Shoremen turned up the heat in the bottom of the third. To start it off, Ty Everitt and Turner singled, a Ruppel single allowed Everitt to score and moved Turner to third. The next at bat, Zach Stolze singled allowing Turner to score and moved Logan Yi who was on base thanks to a catcher's interference score, 13-3.
- Earlham began to crumble the next at bat, Stolze stole second on a wild pitch and Yi scored. Hirsch was able to reach first on a walk and Pete Kokinis singled, sending both Stolze and Ruppel home. Five more singles for the Shoremen had them all tied up 13-13 going into the fourth.
- Earlham was able to score twice in the top of the fourth after a Jonathan Jimenez and Max Fries single. The Shoremen tried to keep it tied as Ruppel doubled to have Turner score to bring the score to 14-15, but with two outs they could not close out the inning.
- The fifth was more promising for the Shoremen as they took their first lead of the game as Elias Philiposi singled to send Kokinis home. T.Parker was able to steal home immediately after thanks to an error caused by Earlham's pitcher putting the Shoremen up 16-15.
- Earlham was able to put it away in the seventh inning, scoring four runs increasing their lead 19-16. Everitt doubled in the bottom of the seventh to lead to the Shoremen's eventual 17th run, but that was the last time they would score, ending the game 20-17.
