Dubbé Tosses Complete Game In Game Two With 10 Strikeouts

LANCASTER, Pa. – Host Franklin & Marshall took both ends of a Centennial Conference baseball doubleheader from visiting Washington College on Sunday afternoon at Caplan Field.  The Diplomats took game one by an 11-3 count and won game two, 2-0.  It was the opening conference games for both teams. 

Franklin & Marshall 11 Washington College 3 (Game 1)

How It Happened
- The Diplomats broke a scoreless tie in the last of the sixth inning when with one out, Justin Cavegn scored on a one out groundout to shortstop off the bat of Christopher Vincent for the game's first run.
- WC tied it in the top of the seventh on a two out double to the gap in left-center by Gavin O'Donnell to score Joe Lozupone to knot the game at 1-1.
- F&M answered in its half of the seventh on a base hit up the middle by Kevin Lammers that chased in Zachary Roberson to give the hosts a 2-1 lead with one away. 
- The Shoremen took their first lead of the game with a pair of two out runs in the top of the eighth.  Evan Hirschbaum hit a RBI single to right-center to score Charlie Meder to level the game at 2-2.  Hirschbaum would then steal second during the at bat of Aaron Barclay and later in the at bat, Barclay singled to left to score Hirschbaum to put the guests ahead 3-2.
- In the bottom of the eight, Franklin & Marshall scored nine times to take control of the game.  David Iacobucci came home on a throwing error to tie the game at 3-3 with nobody out.  Three batters later, Max Schwartz put the hosts ahead with a base hit to left that plated Vincent for a 4-3 lead.  The next batter, Danny Blugis drove in Cory Hecht on an RBI groundout for the frame's third run.  With one away, Lammers made it 6-3 when he drove in Roberson on a single through the left side.  The Diplomats would tack on five more runs to complete the nine-run frame.

For The Shoremen (9-12, 0-1 CC)
-Hitting: Barclay (2-for-4, RBI)
-Pitching: Nick Roberti (loss, 1/3 inning, four hits, six runs, five earned, zero walks and strikeouts), Billy Griffin (starter, seven innings, seven hits, two runs, two earned, one walk, seven strikeouts)
-Washington had six hits, drew eight walks and had one player get on via hit by pitch, while stranding 10 runners on base.
-The Shoremen committed three errors, leading to four unearned runs for F&M. 

For Franklin & Marshall (12-8, 1-0 CC)
-Hitting: Iacobucci (2-for-3, two runs, two walks), Lammers (2-for-4, two RBI), Blugis (2-for-4, RBI), Cavegn (2-for-5), Hecht (three RBI), Roberson and Vincent (two runs)
-Pitching: Bobby Gaston (win 2-0, 1 1/3 innings, one hit, zero runs, one walk, zero strikeouts), Jonathan Cole (starter, seven innings, three hits, one run, one earned, four walks, two strikeouts)
-The Dipolmats had 13 hits in the contest, worked out three walks and left seven runners on base.
-F&M had one error in the game, which led to zero unearned run for the Shoremen.

Notes
- Washington and Franklin & Marshall are playing in a doubleheader for the first time since 2006.  From 2007-16, the Shoremen and the Diplomats played an annual home-and-home.

Franklin & Marshall 2 Washington College 0 (Game 2)

How It Happened
-The Diplomats got two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.  Casey Bulik scored on a double play groundball for the first run of the game and Cavegn scored on a hit up the middle by Roberson for the second run.
- Washington would get runners on third base with two outs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings, but failed to score each time.
- The Shoremen got the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth inning following a leadoff single by Matt Tancredi, which chased F&M starting pitcher Mike Androconis from the game as the hosts summoned Blugis from the bullpen.  Blugis would get a fly out and back-to-back strikeouts to end the game and give the Diplomats the sweep.

For The Shoremen (9-13, 0-2 CC)
-Hitting: Ryan Zwier (2-for-3), Tancredi (2-for-4)
-Pitching: Logan Dubbé (complete game, seven hits, two runs, zero earned, two walks, 10 strikeouts)
-Washington had six hits, while stranding five runners on base as they did not draw a walk.
-The Shoremen committed two errors, one of which led to both runs for F&M.

For Franklin & Marshall (13-8, 2-0 CC)
-Hitting: Cavegh (3-for-4), Roberson (2-for-4, RBI)
-Pitching: Androconis (win 4-1, eight-plus innings, six hits, zero runs, zero walks, five strikeouts), Blugis (save 2, one inning, two strikeouts)
-The Dipolmats had seven hits in the contest, worked out two walks and left six runners on base.
-F&M had no errors in game two.

Notes
- Dubbé had his second double digit strikeout game of the season as he had a career-best 11 against Rochester on March 19.  It was also his first career complete game.
