The number of collegiate student-athletes who play four years of two sports has grown increasingly rare. Those who complete Hall of Fame worthy careers in both of those sports are truly exceptional. Simply put, Andrew King is one of the top two-sport athletes in the history of the athletic program.Â
Andrew played for two NCAA Division III National Championship teams in men's tennis (1994 & 1997) and helped lead the Shoremen to four Centennial Conference championships (1994-1997).Â
In 1995, he qualified for the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship and then captured the Centennial Conference doubles championship in 1996. Andrew also was a two-time All-Centennial Conference First Team singles pick (1996, 1997) and a 1997 First Team All-Centennial Conference doubles selection with partner Michael Kember. He also earned All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention singles honors in 1994.
The Aiken, South Carolina native finished his outstanding career with a record of 47-9 in singles and was 39-13 in doubles. The squad went a phenomenal 72-9 during his career.Â
Andrew also led the Shoremen men's soccer team in scoring three straight years (1994-96) and finished with 26 career goals and 22 assists. He was a two-time All-Centennial Conference pick and helped lead the Shoremen to a record of 38-29-10 during his tenure.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Andrew King into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 2nd day of October, 2021.
