Washington College

A versatile performer in athletics, drama, and social life (he served as president of Kappa Alpha fraternity and the National Leadership Society), John Lord came to Washington College from Cumberland and Allegheny High School.

He played varsity football for four years, highlighting in the fall of 1934 a great all-around performance as center on the College’s only undefeated football team. John, a large rawboned athlete, put his high school experience to good use at once.

In his sophomore year he was presented the Wade G. Bounds Award for contributing the most to the 1932 football program. In a juggling act, coach George Ekaitis had to perform each year with only a limited number of experienced players, Lord played three positions during the 1932 season - center, guard, and tackle - each move directed at strengthening the team.

John Lord played two years of lacrosse as a defense man, 1933, and was a regular in 1934.
