Tammy Tiehel was there when sports history was made. A member the fledgling varsity lacrosse program under the direction of Coach Nancy Dick, Tammy became an offensive threat the first time she stepped on the field in 1983. She and her teammates, encouraged by their capable mentor, were pioneers, promoting the sport on campus, committing themselves to the program, and proving themselves a force to be reckoned with, within the Middle Atlantic Conference. 

Tammy’s scoring record over four years is impressive. In 1983, she scored 21 goals and assisted 15 times. In 1984, she scored 29 goals with 7 assists. In 1985, it was 36 goals and 22 assists. She finished her undergraduate career with 27 goals and 9 assists. Over a four-year period she accrued 113 goals and assisted 53 times, for a total of 166 points. The team record during Tammy’s tenure was 19 wins and 20 losses. 

Tammy was not only an outstanding lacrosse player, but she excelled in the classroom and participated in many extracurricular activities on campus.

Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Tammy Tiehel Stedman into the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame on this second day of October, 2004.
