Dr. Charles Lawrence Brandenburg was a gifted quarter and half-miler of the 1947-50 period. After graduation he launched an outstanding career in dentistry and community affairs.

As a freshman he took third place in the 440 in the Mason-Dixon Conference meet. As a sophomore he won the 440 and finished second in the 880 in the Mason-Dixon meet. As a junior he won both events – the 440 in :49.9 and the 880 in 1:58.8 – establishing new Washington College and Mason-Dixon records. As a senior he repeated as conference 440 and 880 champion.

He ran on the championship relay team, both indoors and outdoors, that set records at the Penn Relays (1949) the Mason-Dixon Con-ference (1949) and at Washington College (1949 and 1950).

Larry captained the track and cross country teams his senior year, finishing fifth in the Mason-Dixon cross country championship, the best for Washington College.

A campus leader, he was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national honor society.

Since graduation Larry Brandenburg has devoted time to giving dental care to people in under developed areas of the world.
