When the topic of lacrosse comes up and a discussion follows as to who might have been the Shoreman’s best attackman ever, Peter Jenkins has convincing bragging rights.

A product of Governor Dummer Academy in Massachusetts, Peter broke into the lacrosse limelight as a freshman at crease attack. He netted four goals in a win over Delaware and finished the season with 21 goals and two assists. Because of his speed and conditioning, he moved to midfield in his sophomore year and tallied only three goals. His return to crease attack as a junior produced phenomenal dividends. He scored 8 goals early in the season against St. Lawrence and went on to finish the year with 50 goals and 3 assists. His seasonal effort earned him second-team All-American honors in Division III. 

He was equally brilliant in his senior season, netting an unbelievable eight goals in the College’s first win over the United States Naval Academy, at 14-10. He closed the campaign with 41 goals and 11 assists and capped his career with first team All-American honors and selection to play in the North-South All-star Game. On the strength of that performance, the Navy team tapped him as its most outstanding opposition player that season. Captain of the team that year, he was awarded the Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal for outstanding accomplishment in both academics and athletics. He graduated with a major in sociology, and served the college as a Resident Assistant for three years.

Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Peter Jenkins into the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame on this second day of October, 2004.
