Dan Gerbasi made a positive impact on two Washington College teams during his four years at the institution, playing both soccer and baseball.
On the soccer field, Dan scored five goals as a freshman – which was just a preview of what was to come. He followed up that performance with 14 goals and two assists as a sophomore, nine goals and four assists as a junior, and 11 goals and five assists as a senior. All told, he finished his collegiate soccer career with 39 career goals and 11 career assists and stands third all-time in the programs history in both career goals and career points. He was named to the All-Centennial Conference second team as a forward in 1997.
Dan’s stellar play on the soccer field helped lead the Shoremen to winning records in three of his four years on the team, including a program-record 12 wins in 1995.
Dan was equally adept at baseball. An outfielder, he hit .333 as a freshman, .409 as a sophomore, .319 as a junior, and .374 as a senior captain for a career batting average of .362. He also finished his career with 140 hits and exactly 100 runs scored, currently ranking him seventh and ninth, respectively, in those two categories in team history. He was named to the All-Centennial Conference second team as a senior.
As in soccer, Washington College enjoyed three winning baseball seasons in Dan’s four years. During Dan’s sophomore campaign, the Shoremen won a then program-best 21 games.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Daniel Gerbasi into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 6th day of October, 2018.
