After transferring to Washington College for his sophomore year, Seth Morgan put together the kind of collegiate tennis career at the school in three years that most players can only dream of accomplishing in a full four years.
Morgan’s first major accolade came just months after enrolling at the College as he won the 1999 Rolex Regional Doubles Championship, a feat he would repeat two years later. He played first doubles – a spot he would remain in during his time at WC – and third singles as a sophomore, piling up a 22-3 singles mark and an 18-8 doubles record. He moved up to No. 2 singles as a junior, putting together a 22-2 singles record and a 22-4 doubles mark, including a perfect 18-0 record at No. 1 doubles in dual matches. He capped off his career with a 12-7 singles record and 17-9 doubles record as a senior, giving him career records of 56-12 in singles and 57-21 in doubles at Washington College.
Morgan qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament in doubles all three seasons, earning All-America honors each time. He was also named to the All-Centennial Conference first team for both singles and doubles all three years and won the 2000 Centennial Conference Doubles Championship. He won the College’s Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal as a senior.
During Seth’s three years on the team, the Shoremen never lost a Centennial Conference match, winning three straight Centennial Conference Championships, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament each season. The team posted a 68-12 dual-match record during his career.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Seth Brian Morgan into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 14th day of October, 2017.
