Paul Hooper was a talented all-around attackman on the Washington College men’s lacrosse teams of the early 1980s, playing in three NCAA Division III Tournaments and the 1982 NCAA Division III National Championship Game.
Paul led the Shoremen in points during all four of his seasons. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1980 team as the Shoremen advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament, beginning a run of 11 consecutive tournament appearances. The Shoremen, who finished 13-4 on the season, advanced to the National Championship Game, falling to Hobart in overtime.
A two-year team captain, Paul was honored with the Athletic Council Award at the end of his senior year. He was a starter in the 1982 North-South Senior All-Star Game.
Following his playing days, Paul coached collegiate lacrosse for a decade, winning an NCAA Division I National Championship as an assistant coach at North Carolina in 1986 and serving as the head coach at Vermont in 1987.
An All-American scholastic player at Columbia High School in New Jersey, Paul was inducted into the Columbia High School Hall of Fame and the New Jersey High School Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
